1. What is Lifestyle Photography in regard to Amazon product listing?
“The one that shows the product in use” would be a common answer. Another version of this – “the one that shows your potential customer using your product.”
Both of these statements explain the concept of lifestyle photography pretty well, but they don’t explain the main thing. I’ll try to cover this quickly.
In your Amazon listing the lifestyle images will go together with white background product photo(s) and possibly with some infographics explaining the key features of your product. These product and infographic images are responsible for showing and explaining your product to your buyers in all the details – they give the rational motives to purchase your product.
What do lifestyle photos responsible for than? The idea of using lifestyles is to associate the product with some certain way of life, with certain people and to create some mood and atmosphere – they give emotional motives to consider purchasing your product. For some products, especially with female target audience emotions can even be more important than product facts.

3. What is important in lifestyle photography for Amazon product listing?
The first thing to do is to understand what makes your product unique, special, what people going to buy it and what your competitors are doing with their lifestyle images. Based on this we make lifestyle concept that is meant to be emotional, memorable and not to follow your competitors paths – the idea is always to stand out and make some new impact with lifestyle images.
A model is extremely important. A great model is half the battle. If he or she evokes the positive feeling, memorable and makes your heart vibrate faster, but still looking like a girl or guy who is going to get the product and lives next door – you are on the right path for a great lifestyle photoshoot.
There’s a common opinion that a model for Amazon listing should look exactly like your typical buyer. That is partly true, but in fact in Windysoul we believe your target audience should not look in the mirror in lifestyle photos. They have to see themselves, but a bit better, a bit nicer, a bit sexier way. People rarely happy with themselves completely and actually, for example, if you sell a cosmetic product that is meant to make your skin better we would consider a model without skin problems, showing what is happening after applying your product rather than showing unattractive issues of your target audience. Also, if your buyer is 30-40 years old we wouldn’t hesitate to offer 26 year old model. So, yes, people would like to associate themselves with the models, but this doesn’t mean they would like to look in the mirror.

Makeup, Hair, Wardrobe styling for a model.
A model is important, but it is only the start of the journey. Makeup, hair, clothing – all of these are extremely vial to create the right emotional impact. You need a pretty big team for a well-done lifestyle session and these people should clearly understand what final result their mutual work should be. So we need at least one organization meeting before the shoot to explain the whole team what image we are trying to create, how makeup, selected wardrobe and interior of the place will match, etc.
Another important thing. Sometimes 40%+ of project budget goes to getting the location we need (renting and traveling expenses). For other project location don’t matter this much, it all depends on the product and the concept of everyday art we choose for it.
4. How painful it is to order lifestyle photography for Amazon product listing at Windysoul.com?
We don’t do fake lifestyles. That’s common when the product photos are manipulated into some lifestyle environment. It is believed that doing a real lifestyle photo session is terribly expensive. That is partly true as to make it really good you need a big team, you pay model fees, you rent locations, etc.
Here is where the advantages of our company shine through. The photoshoot will be taken in Russia – the country of beautiful and relatively inexpensive models and beaty area professionals. It is still not cheap, rarely we do a lifestyle project below $500 (each one is unique and estimated separately), but we keep it reasonable compared to the quality of deliverables we provide.
